Shott in the arm for engineering businesses

22 October 2021

The Royal Academy of Engineering is searching for high growth engineering and technology businesses that want to develop their leadership skills.

The Shott Scale Up Accelerator programme run by its Enterprise Hub is a free, six-month programme and is open for applications until 23 November. They are particularly encouraging leaders of businesses based outside of London to apply.

Since the programme started in 2016, it has supported over 100 leaders of high growth SMEs, who went on to raise over £274 million of equity investment, £41 million in grants and have increased their business valuations by £295 million in total. The participants typically double staff numbers in 12 months and credit the programme with significant improvements in their leadership mindset, strategy, and skills.

Support includes a grant of up to £10,000 towards leadership training courses, workshops and webinars, mentoring and one to one development coaching. Participants will also have access to a co-working and meeting space in central London and reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses for programme activities taking place at the Academy.

You must be a decision-maker in a business that has raised at least £1,000,000 through equity investment or turnover from the previous year, or a combination of both. More details.

Places on the programme are gained through a competitive application process, with the best applicants awarded a place on the programme and membership of the Enterprise Hub for life.

The Shott Scale Up Accelerator is funded by BEIS and Ian Shott CBE FREng, a private donor.
