Ismay Mummery is the founder and Managing Director of Boy Wonder Ltd, her sustainable fashion brand for boys. Business Live recently named her as one of their rising stars of women in business for 2022.

I had an amazing day yesterday at the House of Lords with f:entrepreneur and the #ialso ladies celebrating International Women’s Day!  This was a special reception which recognised my strong contribution to entrepreneurship and sustainability.

We met at Black Rod’s Gate; Black Rod is the person who famously raps three times on the door of the House of Commons for the state opening of parliament. Unfortunately, the official invite had not come through to my email, so I waited outside with the armed guards wondering if I would have to go home! Luckily, the security woman found a guest list with my name on it so I was allowed in, the last one to enter!

We made our way inside through tight security to a canapes and prosecco reception with officials wearing formal black tie attire. There were speeches made by the host, Michelle Ovens CBE of Small Business Britain, and the amazing Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP and the fascinating Rhian Parry who works in wind farms.

It was interesting talking to the other entrepreneurs about their amazing businesses and to be able to celebrate each other in such a special way. I am very proud to be listed as one of the UK’s most inspiring female entrepreneurs among such other inspiring women.
