Digital Marketing Conference gives Leicestershire businesses latest insights

6 July 2023

Last week, Leicestershire businesses learned about the latest digital marketing trends and updates at the Business Gateway’s Digital Marketing Conference.

The event which saw 200 delegates in attendance, was opened by LLEP Chief Executive, Phoebe Dawson who spoke about the importance of supporting businesses to embrace digital technology as well as the creative sector in Leicestershire.

Updates on search engines, use of ChatGPT, paid digital advertising, and content creation were just some of the topics covered by the digital specialists Ian Lockwood, Paul Ince, Rob Gregory, Martin Broadhurst and Liam Lally who also delivered Business Gateway’s digital workshop and 1 to 1 support programme over the last six months.

One of the key messages was that AI was here to stay and businesses shouldn’t be afraid to use it to help them support their marketing efforts. However, although improvements have been made, we humans will still be needed to check its accuracy and whether its output is fit for purpose. A live demonstration of its capabilities was given by Rob Gregory who created a brand new website within minutes using coding he’d created earlier.

Special thanks were given to Diane Beresford, Deputy Chief Executive of East Midlands Chamber who led the events programme delivered for the Business Gateway, as well as the events and marketing teams in Leicestershire. The conference marked the end of the EU-funded project for the Business Gateway though it will continue to signpost local businesses to help and support available.
