Nominations are being accepted for the LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards 2024. The annual awards – now in its sixth year and the flagship event of the LLEP-led Leicestershire Innovation Festival – recognises implementation of ideas, new products and services, and productivity gains.
As well as bright, new thinking, judges want to hear from organisations in Leicester and Leicestershire which are seeing a big impact from making small changes.
That includes established businesses introducing new processes, products and services, university spinouts commercialising research, and social entrepreneurs taking creative approaches to tackling community challenges.
The awards, organised by Reach, are open to individuals and businesses in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that operate in one of 10 category sectors. The entry deadline is midnight on Sunday, 7 January 2024.
The event itself – on Thursday, February 15, 2024 – will be staged on the penultimate day of the 2024 Leicestershire Innovation Festival.
Past winners have included Loughborough-based Nemaura, a medical technology company that makes non-invasive wearable diagnostic devices.
Other awards have been presented in sectors from space-tech to R&D, food manufacturing to student innovation.
The awards is the flagship event of the wider Leicestershire Innovation Festival. The festival will include 20 events over two weeks in 2024.
Proposals are now being accepted by the LLEP from those wishing to stage an online or in-person event.
Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL, Chair of the LLEP’s Innovation Board, said: “We’re aiming to significantly build on the success of the 2023 festival and planning is well underway. Discussions are advancing with Reach and a host of other public and private organisations. We’re actively developing ideas and growing partnerships to make the 2024 festival our biggest yet.”
The LLEP has previously confirmed that the 2024 festival will be staged from Monday 5 February to Friday 16 February.
Last year’s Leicestershire Innovation Festival was the biggest to date, attracting 1,200 registrations across the course of around 20 events during the festival fortnight.
