New enterprise and employment support for Leicester females

7 March 2022

Zinthiya Trust have announced a new innovative partnership project designed to maximise the employment and enterprise potential of women in Leicester over the next 6 months.

The She Inspires Business Playbox project has successfully secured £349,588 from the UK Government via its Community Renewal Fund, which sees Leicester City Council acting as the local Lead Authority, providing oversight for all five of the city’s successful bids.

Led by Zinthiya Trust, in partnership with Solvers Studio, Future We Want, Community Enterprise Engine and Leicester Community Benefit Society, the project brings diverse local partners with their specific skill and expertise to deliver and support the project.

The project has a focus on vulnerable women and those from racial minority backgrounds, who face additional barriers to moving into employment and business, and in particular, are underrepresented in employment, business, innovation and eco-sustainable business sectors.

Specifically, the project will deliver a tailored beneficiary led programme designed to support women into employment and increase female-led entrepreneurship and innovation. The She Inspires Business PlayBox has been carefully crafted to provide women with a safe space to access employment support, test business ideas, develop eco-business awareness, to get expert advice and additional help to overcome any barriers they face.

Zinthiya Ganeshpanchan the CEO of Zinthiya Trust said:

“Women and in particular women who were employed in the service sector as well as those who were self-employed were massively impacted during the pandemic. We are glad that we are one of the five projects to receive the funding from the Community Renewal Fund to support some of these women in our community.”

Carl Quinn, CEO of Solvers Studio, said:

“We’re incredibly excited about this new partnership for Leicester, pulling together our collective expertise to generate real impact for women in the city. The opportunity this funding will create could be significant, opening doors for women in under-represented groups and places in our hometown who can explore the world of self-employment together and forge a path to independence. Empowering those in our communities to move towards the world of work and to recover from the impact of the recent pandemic, and to do so in a sustainable way, is what our programme is all about.”
