Made Smarter can help with skills support, training and grant funding as you go through your journey to digitalisation – whatever stage you are currently at.
The programme will give you independent advice from subject matter experts who will help you to choose and implement what are called ‘Industrial Digital Technologies’ (IDTs) to solve productivity and competitiveness issues and deliver a measurable return on your investment.
As part of the programme, you will be able to secure grant funding of up to £20,000 with a 50% match from your side. You will also work with a specialist to devise a tailored roadmap for your business which will set you up for the journey to get further support later. Some background information
The LLEP in collaboration with D2N2 and Greater Lincolnshire LEP, was recently successful in submitting a joint bid for funding from the Made Smarter manufacturing programme managed by BEIS. The three-year programme worth £3m will help local manufacturing businesses to innovate, creating new opportunities and technologies in the process.
This is particularly important for Leicestershire and the East Midlands because:
- Our economic output is heavily reliant on manufacturing – 18.3% of GVA in the East Midlands compared to 11% for the UK
- Manufacturing is vital for employment – it is the second largest sector for employment in the East Midlands and accounts for 12.7% of employment compared to the UK average of 7.7%
- Manufacturing is a relatively large proportion of all businesses – 10.7% in the East Midlands compared to the UK average of 8.6%
