Three local universities – De Montfort, Leicester and Loughborough – are offering city businesses a free sustainability audit to be conducted by their students.
By participating, the business will receive a useful assessment of its business practices in areas such as energy, water, waste, procurement, travel, community and biodiversity. It will also receive a report detailing its social impact. This report will provide direction on what they should do next and identify potential savings.
Possible benefits of taking part include:
- Getting an insight into the strengths of the business practices and obtaining recommendations for improvements and cost savings.
- Introducing innovative systems and processes to help increase profit, demonstrate commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen funding applications.
- Developing a pathway towards environmental management accreditation such as ISO 14001, Carbon Saver Standard, Food for Life and Green Tourism; all of which help to secure contracts and aid procurement processes.
- Showcasing environmental credentials to customers.
The audit lasts up to two hours and would take place at the business premises. Participants will be awarded a certificate as well as guidance on any further support services as required.
To be eligible, the business must be based in a UK Community Renewal Fund area which includes Leicester City. Register your interest at: zerocarbon@dmu.ac.uk
This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund.
