Get your food business summer-ready: free tools from the FSA

15 June 2026

New menus. Seasonal staff. Festival pitches. There’s a lot to get right this summer.

Summer is coming, and for food businesses that means new menus, seasonal staff, outdoor trading and one of the busiest periods of the year. Getting your food safety right now means fewer headaches later, and more time doing what you love.

The Food Standards Agency’s ‘Safer Food Means Better Business’ campaign puts everything you need in one place, for free. Whether you’re a chef refreshing your menu, a trader preparing for a festival season or a café owner bringing on your first summer hire, there’s practical guidance here for every food business.

This spring, take a few minutes to:

1. Do the free online training. The FSA’s free food safety e-learning is ideal for new and returning staff ahead of the summer rush, including dedicated allergen training.

2. Download the Safer Food Better Business pack. A practical, no-fuss guide to food safety management procedures, checklists and record-keeping, so you know your business is covered.

3. Sign up for food alerts and recalls.

4. Be the first to know when a product is recalled or withdrawn, so you can act fast and protect your customers.

5. Check the latest allergen guidance. The FSA has free tools and step-by-step guidance to help you provide written allergen information correctly. Particularly worth revisiting if you’re rolling out a new summer menu.
