Support for small businesses is facing a critical juncture, as the landscape of assistance has undergone significant change in recent years. Funding has been steadily reduced, and existing support is now often directed toward pre-startups, high-growth firms, or specific sectors, leaving many smaller enterprises underserved.
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has launched a nationwide initiative to better understand what support small businesses truly need and how it can be effectively delivered. The research project aims to define how business owners perceive support, highlight successful programmes, examine both public and private sector initiatives, and ultimately provide informed recommendations for the future.
As part of this effort, the FSB is inviting small businesses to take part in a short survey. Responses from across the country will play a key role in shaping future support strategies. The survey will remain open until 18 May.
Businesses are encouraged to share their views and contribute to the conversation. An FSB spokesperson said: “We need your feedback on what support businesses require and how it can be improved. This is a valuable opportunity for small businesses to help drive positive change. Please take five minutes to complete their survey: ‘Big Support for Small Business – What Businesses Really Need.’
