In less than a week you’ll be able to collect your ‘Beat the Street’ card to take part in a Leicester City Council initiative which hopes to encourage everyone, including business owners and their staff, to get moving.
The game, which starts on 26th May, runs for 6 weeks and is a city-wide physical activity game that hopes to help communities to increase their activity levels by encouraging people to walk/run/cycle and record their distance by tapping their Beat the Street cards on Beat Boxes. These boxes are attached to lamp posts at various locations in the city with the aim of the game to get as many points as possible and bag prizes along the way.
Organisers say that with so much time spent apart by employees this would be something they could do together as a team-building exercise while working from home.
Schoolchildren across the city will also be getting involved using fobs to tap the Beat Boxes. Participants will be provided with guidance to ensure they are Covid19 safe whilst playing the game.
Fobs, cards and maps can be collected from 20th May. Visit the website for more details and collection points.
