‘What’s your hourly rate and what do you cost your business?’
This was just one of the questions posed by growth specialist Maria Peggs at the Business Boost 24 event on Wednesday 17 January.
Organised by the LLEP Business Gateway Growth Hub, it brought together more than 70 Leicestershire business owners and support providers.
And award-winning growth specialist, Maria, was the guest speaker addressing the audience at Leicester Racecourse.
The event was opened by LLEP chief executive Phoebe Dawson, who gave an update on the Business Gateway Growth Hub service.
Maria then provided a variety of tips and information spanning themes including planning, reviewing performance, and differentiating your business.
She asked delegates:
- Are you taking care of yourself?
- Do you take time out to plan?
- Do you surround yourself with allies?
- How much do you cost your business?
Delegates then took part in roundtable discussions about current opportunities and challenges.
Common themes included: finding the right talent, dealing with a fragmented landscape for business support, cyber security, AI and accessing finance.
Recurring topics relating to support providers included the need for a single point of contact, support with digital technology, more networking events, and a streamlined, tailored and targeted support service.
Businesses agreed that they would value access to experts who knew how to run a business and could offer external insight.
Sue Tilley, Head of Business, Innovation and Partnerships at the LLEP, said: “There was such a great energy in the room, and it was fantastic to see so many business owners engaged and keen to share their experiences.
“The event provided some important tips for businesses as well as invaluable feedback for us in terms of potential future support.”
