The World of Work Leicestershire is a 36-page guide, created to convey jobs, careers and apprenticeships to young people across the Leicestershire and Leicestershire area and to build better links between young people and the world of work; this work is part of the LLEP skills action plan to increase awareness to young people and adults of the local world of opportunities.
30,000 copies of this resource are delivered to every Leicester & Leicestershire secondary school and colleges, along with delivery to area providers who support young people. Established for 9 nine years, the guide is used and distributed largely to 15–19-year-olds in careers lessons, libraries, events, parent’s evenings with some schools also creating posters using the different pages.
The resource includes:
• Information on different sectors across Leicester and Leicestershire
• Employers in the region
• Which jobs are most advertised?
• Skills that employer’s value
• Links to find out more about getting into work, changing career, or starting a business.
• Support to help young people move into jobs, learning, training, or apprenticeships.
The guide will be updated in summer 2024 ready to be promoted in the Autumn school term.
