Office for Life Sciences R+I Workforce Survey

20 September 2024

The Office for Life Sciences (OLS), a collaborative unit between the Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), is sharing its latest bulletin through our networks.

Our contacts at the Charnwood Campus Enterprise Zone have asked us to spread the word about this important update.

This is the UK-wide Research and Innovation (R&I) Workforce Survey, conducted by the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) on behalf of DSIT. This survey is your opportunity to influence UK government R&I policies and funding decisions. It encompasses the full range of roles in the R&I workforce, including trainee and experienced researchers, technicians, engineers, and R&I leaders and managers.

Your feedback is crucial for understanding how government policies impact the R&I workforce. This is the second wave of the survey, following the initial one in 2022, and it aims to track changes over time. The first wave has already informed policies related to research talent, research culture, and equality, diversity, and inclusion.

We encourage all researchers and innovators—whether you create new knowledge or apply existing innovations—to take part. The survey is open to professionals across all specialisms, from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to the humanities, arts, and social sciences, and from any sector, be it private, public, or non-profit.

Task:

* This survey will ask about your experiences working in research and innovation in the UK.
* Duration: It should take about 15 minutes to complete. Please ensure you have enough time to finish it in one go, as you won’t be able to save your responses.
* For more information before participating, please visit the information page on gov.uk.
