The EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) was approved by the EU on 10th December 2024. There is a 3-year transition period with partial implementation in September 2026 before full compliance in December 2027. With some requirements starting in 19 months, businesses must act quickly to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.

The CRA has been issued to address the significant cost of cyber crime in the EU (estimated to be over 5Tn Euro) which is often performed by exploiting inadequate security in the software used within digital products. The CRA was passed to protect consumers and businesses by ensuring that everyday devices like smartwatches, baby monitors, and routers meet a certain level of security throughout their life cycle.
