If you feel that you need to do something to get you started on your journey to combat climate change and are working for or with an SME, then through this course you will get the knowledge and tools to set you off on the right path. No previous environmental knowledge is needed.
Carbon Literacy is: “An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.”
Over 20,000 citizens and 57 organisations have already been certified Carbon Literate so far, with over 1,760 organisations being engaged.
What will you learn?
By the end of the course, you will:
• Understand and explain the science around climate change and how it affects us globally and locally
• Have the tools and knowledge to reduce the carbon impact of your business
• Build your own climate pledges to take action on climate change

What will the course consist of?
Training will consist of a mixture of presentations, group activities, videos, quizzes and games. In addition, 1 hour of home-based activity is required to complete the course, therefore please ensure you will be able to have access to the internet prior to the training to watch a film which forms part of the course.
To receive the Carbon Literacy certification, you will need to submit an assessment form at the end of the course, which will be checked by the Carbon Literacy Project. More information can be found here: https://carbonliteracy.com/about-us/
Where is the course taking place?
The course will be delivered face-to-face in a venue in the centre of Leicester City just 5 minutes’ walk from the train station or 7 minutes’ walk from the Town Hall’s secure bicycle park (currently free of charge & open 8am – 6.30pm). We recommend using public transport, cycling, walking or car sharing to get to the event. However, where this cannot be avoided, the venue is located across the road from a 526-space NCP car park, NCP Rutland Centre (24-hour discounted parking available at £5.50 if you stamp your ticket at the discount machine (please contact the LCB depot for further details). Further car parking is available at Lee Circle NCP Car Park.
A light vegan lunch and refreshments are offered as part of the event. Please notify the organiser ‘Lorent Training’ at the time of booking if you have any food allergies.
