To help local authority licensing officers ensure that they meet their regulatory obligations under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission has worked with the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Licensing Forum and LLEP to create templates for assessments at gambling premises.

This project aims to make gambling regulations easier to access and understand and supports regulatory services in providing advice and guidance to businesses on how to achieve compliance.

Resources available include:

Assessment templates: produced for officers to use as an aid when completing assessments at different types of gambling premises.

Information sheets for gambling operators: which can be taken to an assessment and given to the gambling operator to satisfy the inspection provision regulations.

Monitoring checklists: which can be used to assess compliance when a full assessment may not be required/ appropriate.

Assessment outcome letters and record of assessmentwhich can be amended and sent to operators to confirm the findings of your assessment.

“The Gambling Commission has worked with Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Licensing Forum and LLEP to produce a number of templates for use in connection with assessments of gambling premises. The templates include inspection guides and forms relating to different types of gambling premises together with outcome letters.

Use of the documents enables a consistent approach to inspections to be adopted by the numerous licensing authorities. They also provide licensing officers with practical precedents for use when visiting gambling premises.

The guides and forms are also beneficial to operators of gambling premises as they provide a checklist which can be employed to ensure that their premises remain compliant.”

And

As a licensing lawyer, advising many operators, I find the LLEP inspection guides invaluable. I encourage my clients to use them to make sure that they are fully compliant with all the social responsibility requirements as well as the more fundamental aspects of their premises and operator licence.  It really is a great resource for everyone to benefit from.’
