New suite of post-Brexit support for Leicestershire businesses with European connections18 February 2021
At a time when business survival is the number one priority for SMEs, keeping abreast of the many changes in legislation that are being drafted in with immediate effect can leave business owners bewildered and unsure of how to find, interpret and activate this new information for their own operations – and that runs the risk of devastating or costly consequences.
Any business that has a connection with Europe, be it via employing EU nationals, holding EU data, supply chains or trading goods, is encouraged to contact the Business Gateway Growth Hub where they can arrange to discuss their concerns with an expert adviser.
To expedite the flow of critical information to the region’s SMEs, the Business Gateway Growth Hub has launched a suite of specialist support, including online events that are free to access. The Growth Hub is keen to be recognised as the ‘go-to’ resource for accurate and up to date guidance and business support on the EU Transition.
On Friday 12 March (3.00 – 4.30 pm) the Growth Hub provides advice from its team of Brexit specialists on What is a ‘Level Playing Field?’ How will it benefit my business?
There has been much talk in the press of the ‘level playing field’ but what does this actually mean for businesses in the medium and longer-term, and what is the ‘rebalancing mechanism’ that was used to reach agreement, and what doors to future tariffs, disagreements or opportunities could this create when our standards and rules start to deviate from those in the EU?
On Monday 15 March (2.00 – 3.00 pm) Hauliers, drivers and business professionals within the transport and logistics sector are invited to attend this webinar – UK Border Readiness, Are you prepared? – where they will be provided with the tools they will need to continue to trade with and within EU countries.
Specialist support and expertise with dedicated advisers is also available via 1-2-1 telephone and virtual sessions, to help business owners diagnose challenges and signpost them to sources of support, grant funding, webinars and expert content.
All are fully funded so free of charge to access.
Jon Egley, Growth Hub Manager, comments; “Although Brexit has been in the headlines for a number of years, the delays regarding the final deal and numerous legislation changes left many business owners in the dark about next steps. Couple this with the COVID-19 pandemic and you have a perfect storm where SMEs across Leicestershire are exposed from an information and support perspective.
“We, at the Business Gateway Growth Hub, aim to make the transition as smooth as possible by streamlining the way we offer support and guidance to business owners so that they can focus on running their businesses and ensuring their survival, rather than hunting for accurate and up to date information”.
Jon continues; “Whether you have a general query or are looking for advice on a more complex topic, the team is here to help. Simply head to our website and submit an enquiry form to arrange for one of our business advisers to give you a call. Alternatively, you can sign up to attend a webinar, which is entirely free of charge, or call our EU support helpline on 0116 482 1111.”
