Give and Take Leicester looking for ‘rewards’ from local businesses

3 December 2019

Give & Take Leicester is a new community initiative, designed to provide opportunities for volunteers to earn rewards by volunteering. The initiative, hosted by Vista, the local sight-loss charity, will be able to match a volunteer’s skills, talents and interests with others to benefit the whole community, via an app-based system.

The concept of Give & Take Leicester is that it encourages more people to support local community activities through ‘rewards’ offered by local businesses.

It would reward local voluntary work such as running community groups, gardening for people who can’t, volunteering in libraries, litter picking in local parks, running after-school clubs, dog walking, sports coaching etc. If volunteers didn’t want to spend their rewards themselves, they could gift these back to charitable and community organisations so that they support not only the community but help the charities themselves with other costs.

The scheme is looking for local companies to offer small rewards for individuals – discounts off food, taxis, cinema trips, hairdressing, leisure centres, or bigger rewards for community groups and charities – from room hire, printing, training, business support etc.
