Time to think differently about your business
If the recent upheaval of Brexit and Covid have taught us anything, it’s that things change rather than standing still. The world we know gets disrupted and from this disruption new things emerge.
In Lockdown, many businesses changed the way they did things to keep trading. Restaurants, cafes and pubs started offering takeaway instead of sit-down meals. Some pubs shared their space with other businesses to create delis and community cafes. Many used existing services like Just Eat or Deliveroo. Several retail shops went online to sell their goods and deliver them by post. Some B2B businesses changed to B2C to survive.
None of these change were huge; they were simple and low-cost and kept those businesses trading instead of shutting down. Perhaps you made some small changes in your business with some staff working from home, or you changed your packaging because of supply chain shortages. All of those changes are what’s known as innovation.
Today’s businesses don’t always look for a competitive advantage by developing NEW products or services. Amazon didn’t invent the idea of internet shopping. AirBnB did not invent the idea of the Bed and Breakfast. What both did is change the way that we shop or engage with bed and breakfast accommodation. They used what we call Business Model Innovation. When you join this session, you will meet a whole range of business models and understand what they’ve done for various companies. Then you’ll discover which business model you could use to improve the performance of your own company.

This programme of events is aimed particularly at SMEs but also at any Leicestershire business or organisation that wants to understand and learn to use innovation in their day to day operations and long term planning.
