Most pitching events involve an entrepreneur pitching their proposition to investors. This event will provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to turn the tables and ask investors to pitch to them.

Business angel and equity investment is an important finance option for many early-stage, innovative businesses. However, levels of investment in Leicester, Leicestershire and the wider East Midlands region remain low compared to the rest of the UK. This is partly the result of a lack of investment readiness among these businesses.

The event will involve a series of short presentations, followed by a panel session for entrepreneurs outlining what a business angel and equity investor is and why they invest, the role of SEIS/EIS investment, what business angels and investors look for in a proposition, and how a proposition can become investment ready.

The panel session will include representatives from Minerva Business Angel Network (“Minerva”) and members of its Loughborough Investment Group, as well as fund managers supported by the British Business Bank.

Speakers

– Lewis Stringer, Senior Manager, UK Network – East and South-East Midlands, British Business Bank (the British Business Bank is government’s economic development bank, dedicated to helping UK small businesses survive, prosper and grow)

– Rajinder Bhuhi, Incubation and Acceleration Associate, Research and Innovation Office, Loughborough University (the Research and Innovation Office plays a leading role in shaping and delivering the university’s research and innovation activities for entrepreneurs)
